Identical

What is it?

R&D National Cooperation Project between the companies Ingelectus and Ormazabal with the collaboration of the department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Seville, through AICIA, to develop exact and approximate Digital Twins of the distribution network.

What problems does it solve?

Identical project generates greater knowledge of the operating state of MV/LV power transformers deployed in electricity distribution networks, as well as Low Voltage networks, to guarantee the stability and security of the electricity supply through the control of these assets. Specifically, the main efforts of the project have focused on generating a Coupled Digital Twin (electrical and thermal) for power transformers which, using technologies such as State Estimation and Kalman Filters, serves as a tool for monitoring, purifyingmeasurements, simulating the transformer itself and calculating its life cycle. Precise knowledge of the operating state will serve, among other things, as input to the control logic of on-load tap-changing transformers (OLTC).

Beneficiaries

  • Electricity distribution network management companies.
  • Manufacturers of power transformers and sensors.

General objective:

To develop a Digital Twin for the electricity distribution networks of the present, on which to generate tools that solve the current problems of electricity assets.

This Digital Twin must be fully adapted to the current context of the networks, and for this purpose it focuses on the following technological challenges:

  • Exact digital twin of the MV/LV Transformer Substation (CT): combining the electrical and thermal aspects of the transformer in a single digital twin.
  • Approximate and evolutionary digital twin of the LV network: data-driven strategies and Big Data techniques to alleviate the information deficit in Low Voltage networks.
  • Algorithms and applications for transformers based on the digital twin: development of value proposals aimed at energy transition, operational efficiency and optimal planning.
